Rooms to rent

Rooms to rent on Universal Credit and benefits

Furnished rooms and flats where rent is normally covered by Universal Credit. Benefits welcome, and no agency is needed to apply.

Benefits welcome

Renting a room on benefits

We let furnished rooms in shared houses and self-contained flats to people on Universal Credit, PIP and ESA, and to people with a limited capability for work assessment.

Rent and the main service charges are normally covered by the housing element of Universal Credit, and we help you with the claim.

You can stay for as long as you need, with weekly coaching from a Housing Officer to help you keep your home.

Affordability

Find a room that fits your income

Every listing is tagged with the affordability criteria it suits, so you can see straight away whether a room is right for you:

  • UC only: suitable if Universal Credit is your only income
  • PIP: suitable if you receive Personal Independence Payment
  • LCW and LCWRA: suitable if you have a limited capability for work, or for work and work-related activity, assessment
  • 16 hours + UC: suitable if you work 16 hours or more a week alongside Universal Credit

What you pay

Bills and charges

You pay a small personal charge each week, shown on every listing. It covers heating, lighting and water for your room.

We explain every charge before you sign anything, so there are no surprises.
