The process
How it works
From first enquiry to a settled home, in five steps.
001 – Step by step
Five steps, one plan
01
Referral
Complete the online referral form. Referrals come from council housing teams, supported housing providers, probation and health services, and from people referring themselves. The form covers the applicant’s details, income, housing history, health and risk, so have their documents to hand.
02
Assessment
We speak to the applicant about their housing history, income, any guidance they want and what they hope to move on to. It is also their chance to ask questions and decide whether the home suits them.
03
Offer and move-in
If it is a good match we make an offer, explain the agreement and the charges, and agree a move-in date. Assessment and move-in are typically completed within 2 to 10 days of referral. Homes are furnished, so residents can settle straight away.
04
Living here
Residents have a named contact, tenancy coaching and a welfare check each month. We help with benefit claims, budgeting, registering with a GP, and finding work or training. Repairs are reported to the housing team and tracked through to completion.
05
Moving on
The move-on plan is reviewed monthly. When a resident is ready we help them search, apply and prepare for a settled home, and we keep the referrer informed where the resident agrees.
002 – Before you refer
What helps a referral succeed
- The applicant knows about the referral and wants to move
- They are ready to live with a degree of independence
- They have, or can claim, an income to cover rent and living costs
- Any risks are shared openly so the right home can be offered
